Most tea tins are not airtight, and almost nobody says so.

Why we exist

Tea does not spoil, it goes flat. The volatile aromatics that make a blend taste like anything leave, oxygen dulls what is left, and six months later the customer decides your tea is unremarkable rather than stale. They do not complain; they just do not reorder.

So the lid is the specification and we put it on the quote before the artwork. And two more that nobody mentions: a food-safe interior lacquer, because bare steel gives leaf a metallic note; and the fact that **tea is one of the most odour-absorbent foods there is**, so a tin that held a smoky blend will affect whatever goes in next.

What we actually make

Gasketed tins that genuinely seal, for tea sold as the primary packaging. Slip-lid caddies for the worktop, described honestly as refillable rather than airtight. Hinged and flat pocket tins for samples and travel, where the point is that the lid cannot be lost. Lithographed tins, printed onto flat sheet steel before the tin is formed so the artwork wraps corners with nothing to peel. Window tins, with a straight account of what light does to leaf. And divided multi-tin gift sets that arrive with every lid still seating.

All of them are food-safe lined as standard.

What we do not make

Candle tins — a candle is a wick and a wax specification and there are people who do it properly. Coffee packaging, which needs a one-way degassing valve that tea does not and would be wrong here. Plastic tubes and pouches.

And we will not describe a slip-lid tin as airtight, however much nicer that would be to put on a listing.

Three things we say that cost us money

A window sells tea on a shelf and degrades it the whole time it sits there, fastest in green and white blends. If you want one, keep it small, put it on one face and consider tinting it — or photograph the leaf beautifully and put that on the tin instead.

Below a certain quantity, a printed label genuinely beats lithography on cost, and we will tell you where that line falls for your run rather than pushing you into a plate setup you do not need.

And if your tin is a refillable caddy, you do not need the gasket. It is the more expensive lid and it makes the tin slightly less pleasant to open.

How we price

No dollar figures on this site. Price moves with the size, the lid type, the print method and the quantity, and lithography carries a real plate setup that a label does not. On artwork

Litho is printed flat and then formed, so we need to know the shape before we lay out the artwork — a design that works on a cylinder will not simply transfer to a square tin with rounded corners.

We redraw free, show you where the seam and the base roll fall so nothing important lands on them, and hold the plates so next year’s run matches this year’s colour rather than nearly matching it.
